Steeping as the foundation of modern malting technology

Abstract
The basic principles of the re-steeping process can be employed in a conventional malt plant. By lengthening or shortening the pre-steeping period, germination can be started in the steep tanks, and germination facilities can be utilized more efficiently. Proper equipping of steep facilities and thorough temperature and moisture controls are essential.
